Shamanic Worlds & Kingdoms Mankind alone amongst the beasts demonstrably examines and actively seeks to understand and quantify his existence. Until he examines the physical, spiritual and mental as an integrated whole, the Question will not be answered. Until viewed wholistically, any answers can make no sense because the Questions themselves are not understood. -- Craig Berry |

Regardless of the methods used, the objective of the shamanic journey is generally the same; alteration of awareness to commune with and communicate with the non-physical aspects of our world including energetic and spirit forms. Most documented and common shamanic practices recognise mind journeying to what have become commonly referred to as the upper, middle and lower worlds. Please refer to the excellent Wiki article on the axis mundi for further reading on this. The upper world is the realm of spirits, spirit guides and holds the doorway to the, "land of the dead". The entities encountered in the upper world are more typically post-form entities (following physical existence). Popularised texts refer to the upper world erroneously as an analogue to the biblical heaven, a concept that has little place in the shamanic upper world. The middle world is representative of our physical world. When visiting the middle world, those journeying may be considered to be seeing the energetic, physical and spiritual aspects of our physical world. Shaman seeking herds to hunt will journey in the middle world and replay that information to their hunters who then know where to find those animals. In early society, if the shaman was not good at seeking, their people went hungry! The lower world is the realm of energetic reality, populated by animal guides and other pre-form (pre-physical) amalgamated entities; possibly referred to as unified morphic fields in certain texts. Far less documented but included here for the sake of thoroughness are the upper, middle and lower kingdoms. These kingdoms are generally known by different names dependant on the practitioner's origins but share common form and function, although mentioning these in many societies is generally discouraged although not actively suppressed. The Upper Kingdom is divided into two levels. The Seventh Outer mind is the uppermost level and the second to sixth outer minds make up the innermost level of the Upper Kingdom. The Middle Kingdom is where the three previously described upper, middle and lower worlds are found (the divisions here can get blurred as no clear event horizons exist between these three in the journeying process).
The Lower Kingdom is the realm of energetic existence, pre-existence and itself has two levels; the inner (upper from our perspective) layer that of energetic pre-corporeal Psi energy and the base of the first inner mind and; the outer layer as a level of distinct Psi Energy in undirected form available as pure formative energy to the upper realms. The Universal Cycle - Spirit (morphic and deterministic) interfaces with Psi energy to produce our physical universe. Essentially, Psi energy gives rise to matter (of which living life is a part); matter produces life which produces Psi energy and gives rise to spirit; Spirit binds matter to form and directs energy through the quantum flux of our physical universe. This concept is to be discussed in detail later, but think of a physical figure eight. Spirit is non-linear, super-positioned, highly deterministic and causal. Psi energy is non-linear, quasi-omnipresent and is the uncast energy of our entire universe. Psi energy is without form at its base level, interfacing with spirit to form an event horizon which we understand to be our physical universe. Quantum electrodynamic modelling of our universe falls from random to probable with the addition of causality. If that model saw spirit and Psi interfacing to form the physical on the first loop of the figure eight, and added the reciprocal transit through the physical and the dynamic Psi field which acts as a container for the physical plane of existence and all of the non-parallel universes forming the linear continuity we experience as our physical universe.
