Dispossessions Mankind alone amongst the beasts demonstrably examines and actively seeks to understand and quantify his existence. Until he examines the physical, spiritual and mental as an integrated whole, the Question will not be answered. Until viewed wholistically, any answers can make no sense because the Questions themselves are not understood. -- Craig Berry |

Dispossesion represents a much higher level of peril for the practitioner. The first thing is to define what is doing the possessing. A energetic demon can not possess a person. Possession requires a sentient and conscious entity - sometimes by a physical person [present or past] and rarely by a spiritual demon. I will not differentiate between the various types of possessing entities, but will describe the process of dispossession so that someone who is entering into such a ritual will have some understanding of the mechanics of the event. How does a [psyche] possession occur? Non-deliberate possession happens when a person inadvertently makes themselves available to a possessing entity. We have seen examples of this where a person has given themselves over so completely to a quasi-religious or dominant personality that they have made themselves an appendage of that powerful figure. A more domestic form is seen where one partner gives over control of every aspect of their lives to the other to the point where their words are rarely their own. A person 'dabbling' in occult practices or attempting dark work without sufficient training may become the subject of a psyche possession. Lost soul possessions fall into this class also. Deliberate psyche possession can be in the form of a cast, often vampiristic attack, typically by a group or more rarely, an individual. Spiritual possessions are the rarest form in my experience and are by far the most dangerous to both the victim and the practitioner. A self-perpetuating spiritual entity, like an energetic demon, is a strong and independent entity in its own right. Unlike energetic demons, spiritual demons are normally sentient, often malignant and quite powerful in their own defence. Some black practices involve forming and releasing spiritual demons upon an enemy. This is a significant and dangerous form of black practice which often ends up injuring the caster as well as the victims of such an attack. The other form of spiritual demon is probably the most malignant of all, being typically formed through ritual belief until it gains enough power to become self-perpetuating and relatively sentient. Like any other animal seeking what it needs to survive, it is essentially a predator, seeking any weakened or vulnerable individual who comes up on its 'radar'. This form is basically a spiritual entity seeking a physical form. Whilst some are less malignant than others, none of them let go of their host very easily and often try to invade the next available physical form upon expulsion. When a person is possessed, they literally have [at least] two conflicting psyches within the one physical being, their's and another's. The manner of the possession is basically irrelevant at this point; the victim is sharing with a hostile squatter in the best case scenario. To dispossess a person, a shaman will first ensure their own solidarity and empower themselves with a number of cleansing and preparatory rituals to ensure their own safety as well as raising the victims power animals and guides to safeguard the victim once cleansed. They will next merge energetically with the victim, essentially withdrawing their energetic presence from a part of themselves and taking on the energetic and spiritual signature of the victim. The techniques do vary somewhat but the purpose is the same, to have the possessing entity move into the shaman's physical form. Once the victim is clear, the shaman keeps a dualistic energy pattern in mind whilst 'activating' the victim's guides and helping the victim seal themselves. The next part is the most dangerous for the shaman. The practitioner now moves into a new circle prepared at an earlier point where they're at their most powerful and assisted and pushes the possessing spirit from their body into a confining energetic space. If all goes smoothly, the entity is now completely contained within the circle which is then strangled of all energy to the greatest degree of ability of the practitioner and their guides and assistants. when robbed of this energy, the spirit weakens and can be projected (banished) safely away. If the practitioner has bitten off more than they can deal with, they are now in a world of problems and typically will become possessed themselves. Using pre-arranged signals, this possession is communicated to an assistant who will then seek another shaman to come to the aid of the first. It is reputedly quite common for the possessed shaman to become highly self destructive and self-injurious during their possession as the spirit takes a certain level of retribution upon its antagonist, just as any predator would when threatened. Someone who undertakes this sort of work and has failed to prepare and train fully for it will in most cases be severely disabled, maddened or otherwise left far less than they were before attempting the techniques.
